Penfield High School senior Molly Mayfield is the recipient of the 2014 Penfield Art Association Memorial Scholarship.
The award will be presented during the reception for the PAA’s 50th Anniversary Spring Show and Sale at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield. The reception takes place 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 3. The show can be viewed 10 a.m.-9 p.m. June 2-June 5; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 6; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 7; and 2-3 p.m. June 8.
A selection of Molly’s artwork will be on display during the show, which will feature 156 paintings by 55 PAA members.
“Molly is a talented artist that has also spent many hours developing her skills,” says Anne Punzi, Penfield High School Art Department facilitator/Teacher. “She has taken art throughout her four years of high school and is a regular presence in the art rooms.”
The daughter of Amy and Mike Mayfield of Penfield, Molly plans to study
art at Alfred University in the fall.
This year’s award is being given in memory of the late John Winters, a founding member of PAA who died in 2013. The student award has been presented annually since 1976.
Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 100 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and people interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
