A select exhibit of members’ paintings in a variety of media will be on display throughout February as the Penfield Art Association presents its 2015 Winter Show in the Community Room at Barnes & Noble, 3349 Monroe Ave., Pittsford, N.Y.
The exhibit is open daily Sunday, Feb. 1, through Saturday, Feb. 28, during store hours: 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. A reception and awards ceremony will take place 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6.
The juror for this year’s show is Rochester artist Brian O’Neil. O’Neill graduated from the Ani Art Academy (Bear Creek, PA) apprenticeship program where he studied under acclaimed realism painter Anthony Waichulis. A signature member of The Pastel Society of America, he works in a variety of mediums including oil, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. His work has been showcased in galleries across the U.S. and in Canada, Japan and England. O?Neill teaches fundamental drawing and painting skills in The Memorial Art Gallery Creative Workshop.
Co-chairs for the show are Yeou-jih Yang of Pittsford and Jane June of Farmington, Ontario County.
Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 120 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and anyone interested in the two-dimensional visual arts. For more information, visit www.penfieldartassociation.com.
