Virtual Winter Show Opens Feb. 1

'Wendy, Rivka and Sue' by Brenda Lyness

‘Wendy, Rivka and Sue’ by Brenda Lyness was Best of Show winner in the 2020 Winter Show.

Penfield Art Association is preparing to launch the organization’s first juried online show.

The judge is widely acclaimed artist Brian Keeler. Keeler, who lives in Ithaca, NY, maintains a studio in his hometown of Wyalusing, PA, and teaches at Keystone College near Scranton. He also presents workshops in the US and in Italy. He paints landscapes, still-life compositions, figures and portraits in oil, pastel and watercolor.

Besides selecting the paintings to be included in the show, Keeler will determine Best of Show, three juror and three merit award winners.

Suzanne Markham of Penfield and Linda Delaney of Rochester are co-chairs of the show, which can be viewed at penfieldartassociation.com beginning Feb. 1. The online exhibit replaces the Annual Penfield Art Association Winter Show and Sale that usually takes place at Barnes & Noble, Pittsford. PAA has suspended all in-person activities due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The Winter Show and Sale show is one of three annual exhibits presented by the Penfield Art Association. Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 70 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and people interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
