Emily Ebersol, the daughter of Mary Beth and Scott Ebersol of Penfield, is the recipient of the Penfield Art Association’s annual scholarship award. Her work will be featured at the organization’s spring show, which takes place June 1 – 7 at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road.
PAA has presented a cash award to a PHS senior each year since 1976.
Emily has always enjoyed drawing and painting and began taking art classes at Penfield High School at the end of her junior year. She started with a drawing class to begin preparation of a portfolio needed for admission to a college architecture program.
During her senior year, she spent more time in the art department, taking several additional classes and developing her skills and personal voice. She will begin studying architecture at the University of Pittsburgh in the fall.
In addition to art, Emily plays cello and violin. She’s also an athlete and plays lacrosse and soccer.
The Penfield Art Association’s 51st annual spring exhibit features work by more than 60 local artists. The opening reception and awards ceremony will take place 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 2.
