Penfield Art Association 2017 Student Award goes to Jonah McGrath

Jonah McGrath, who will graduate from Penfield High School in June, will receive the annual Penfield Art Association student award for 2017.

An exhibit of his paintings, drawings and ceramic work will be included in the PAA 2017 Spring Show, which takes place June 5 – 10 at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road. McGrath will receive his award at the reception and awards ceremony 7 ­­– 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 6.

McGrath, the son of Allison and Sean McGrath of Penfield, will attend SUNY Fredonia this fall, where he plans to major in art. He has a special interest in ceramics. At Penfield, McGrath has also competed in indoor and outdoor track in pole vault and cross-country.

PAA has presented a cash award to a PHS senior each year since 1976.

The Penfield Art Association’s 53rd annual spring exhibit features more than 160 works by 56 local artists.

Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 100 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and people interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
