Members of the Penfield Art Association are gearing up for the 2016 Spring Show, which takes place June 6 – 11 at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road.
A public reception and awards ceremony will take place 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 7. The show can be viewed 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday – Thursday (June 6 – June 9); 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday (June 10); 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday (June 11). Club members are on hand at all times to answer questions about the art, much of which will be available for purchase.
The show includes 168 paintings in a variety of media.
The judge for this year’s show is Ron Netzsky, professor of art at Nazareth College, Pittsford, where he has taught printmaking since 1975. He also teaches printmaking at the Woodstock School of Art. He received his BFA from Philadelphia College of Art in 1973 and his MFA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1975.
Chair of the show is Joan “Joey” McCall of Fairport and co-chair is Betty Bird of Pittsford.
Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 100 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and people interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
