Recent paintings in a variety of media will be on display throughout February as the Penfield Art Association presents its 2019 Winter Show in the Community Room at Barnes & Noble, 3349 Monroe Ave., Pittsford, N.Y.

The exhibit is open daily Monday, Feb. 4, through Saturday, March 2, during store hours, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. A reception and awards ceremony will take place 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5. Best of show, six juror awards and six merit awards will be presented.

The juror for this year’s show is Rochester artist Brian O’Neill. Brian is a graduate of the Ani Art Academy apprenticeship program, where he trained with renowned realism painter Anthony Waichulis. He has found great success in both classic oil realism as well as bold and dynamic abstract painting. He has begun to merge those two worlds in paintings of the human form within an abstract backdrop. He teaches workshops and long-term students in fundamental drawing and painting.  Brian’s paintings have won numerous international awards and have been featured in many of today’s top art publications.

The co-chairs for this show are Linda Delaney and Joy Argento, both of Rochester.

Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 100 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and anyone interested in the two-dimensional visual arts. For more information, visit www.penfieldartassociation.com.

“The Erosion of Faith, Hope and Charity” by Brenda Lyness, won the top prize in the 2018 winter show.
