Winter Show Opens Feb. 3

Recent paintings in a variety of media will be on display throughout February as the Penfield Art Association presents its 2020 Winter Show in the Community Room at Barnes & Noble, 3349 Monroe Ave., Pittsford, N.Y.

The exhibit is open daily Monday, Feb. 3, through Saturday, Feb. 29, during store hours, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. A reception and awards ceremony will take place 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5. Best of show, six juror awards and six merit awards will be presented.

The juror for this year’s show is Rochester artist g.a. Sheller, who is recognized nationally for her work blending watercolor and photography. She is a renowned colorist whose paintings highlight landscapes and plant forms. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the College of New Rochelle with additional graduate study at Pennsylvania State University and with Robert Reed at Yale University. Sheller has received numerous awards in national exhibitions, has shown her work throughout the U.S. and England and been featured in Watercolor Artist magazine. For more than 30 years, she has conducted painting workshops in the U.S. and Europe. She teaches watercolor painting at the Creative Workshop of the Memorial Art Gallery and in her studio.

Erika Hutch’s “Pink Jewell” won Best of Show in the 2019 Winter Show.

The co-chairs for this show are Linda Delaney of Rochester and Suzanne Markham of Penfield.

Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 80 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and anyone interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
