More than 100 paintings by 40 PAA artists will be on display June 5-10 at Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road. An online companion show opens the same day on this website.
An opening reception and awards ceremony takes place 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 6. The show is open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. June 5-8; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 9, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 10.A special feature of this show is a “small works” category. Many of the paintings are for sale, and a selection of cards and prints will be offered.
Awards judge for the exhibit is Colette Savage, an award-winning artist and native Rochesterian whose love of the area is reflected in the art she creates. A life-long artist, she has painted en plein air for 18 years. Most of her work is done in pastel. Colette is currently a member of Greater Rochester Plein Air Painters, Irondequoit Art Club and the Pastel Society of Western NY. In addition to doing demonstrations and workshops, Colette currently teaches classes in pastel painting, drawing and plein air painting at the Art Stop in Penfield and through Irondequoit Community Education.
The Spring Art Show and Sale is one of three annual exhibits presented by the Penfield Art Association. Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and people interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
Kousa Dogwood (above), an oil painting by Barbara Rice, will be included in the show.
