Members of the Penfield Art Association are gearing up for the 2019 Spring Show, which takes place June 3 – 8 at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road.
The artists’ reception and awards ceremony will take place 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 4.
The show can be viewed 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday (June 3-June 6); 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday (June 7); and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday (June 8). Club members are on hand at all times to answer questions about the art, much of which will be available for purchase.
The show includes 150 paintings in a variety of media by 54 area artists.
The judge for this year’s show is Roland “Chip” Steven. A noted watercolor artist in the Rochester area, he has received awards in numerous national, state, and regional exhibitions. He is a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Philadelphia Watercolor Society, Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, Central New York Watercolor Society, Rochester Art Club and Whiskey Painters of America.
Stevens received a B.S. from the University of Rochester and a bachelor of architecture and master of architecture in urban design from Syracuse University. After graduation, he studied privately with Jossey Bilan, a noted painter in Keene, NY.
Co-chairs of the show are John Brincka of Fairport and Karl Corder of Penfield.
Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 100 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and people interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
