Members of the Penfield Art Association are gearing up for the 2018 Spring Show, which takes place June 4 – 9 at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road.
The artists’ reception and awards ceremony will take place 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 5. The show can be viewed 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday – Thursday (June 4 – June 7); 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday (June 8); 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday (June 9). Club members are on hand at all times to answer questions about the art, much of which will be available for purchase.
The show includes 154 paintings in a variety of media by 52 area artists.
The judge for this year’s show is Patricia Tribastone, a nationally recognized artist painting primarily in pastel and oil. Her work has been in many national exhibitions and she is a Master Signature member of the Pastel Society of America and a Signature member and Board of Directors member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. Most of Tribastone’s paintings depict still lifes and are done in a representational style. Her bold use of color and light are distinguishing factors in her work. She is a full-time artist and maintains a gallery/studio in Canandaigua, N.Y. In addition to teaching at various venues, she is represented at the Oxford Gallery in Rochester and Gallery 3040 in Old Forge.
Chair of the show is John Heister of Mendon and co-chair is John Brincka of Fairport.
Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 75 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and people interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
