Annual juried exhibit runs through March 1 at Barnes & Noble, Pittsford
Recent paintings in a variety of media will be on display throughout February as the Penfield Art Association presents its 2014 Winter Show in the Community Room at Barnes & Noble, 3349 Monroe Ave., Pittsford, N.Y.
The exhibit is open daily Sunday, Feb. 2, through Saturday, March 1, during store hours, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. A reception and awards ceremony will take place 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3. Best of show, six juror awards and six merit awards will be presented. The juror for this year’s show is Rochester artist Lanna Pejovic.
Pejovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and emigrated with her family to Rochester in 1957. She received her MFA in painting from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in Philadelphia. Her studies included a year each in Florence and Rome. She has taught painting and drawing at SUNY Geneseo, Creative Workshop of the Memorial Art Gallery, Mill Art Center in Honeoye Falls, and Rochester Institute of Technology, where she teaches painting and figure drawing in the Extended Studies program of the School of Art, College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. She has had numerous solo exhibitions of her work in the Rochester area and in Serbia.
Chairs for the show are Stephen Schmidt of Penfield and Joy Argento of Walworth.
Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has more than 100 members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and anyone interested in the two-dimensional visual arts.
