The awards judge for this show is Jean Stephens. Jean holds a BFA in printmaking and painting and a Masters in Art Education from RIT. She works in a variety of media including oil, encaustics, graphite drawing, printmaking and collage. Her work has been selected for national juried exhibitions and is included in both private and corporate collections. She currently offers art instruction at the Mill Art Center and Gallery in Honeoye Falls.
Jean shared the guidelines she uses when judging works of art:
- Concept: Does the artist have something compelling to say? Have they presented a familiar subject in a unique way?
- Execution: Does the artwork show competence with the chosen medium?
- Presentation: Does the matting and framing, if applicable, support or detract from the artwork?
